Meet Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog Via Skype!

Ok, so I don't know alot about technology, but my mom tells me that we will soon be offering Skype presentations to schools! Wow, can you believe it? It is the newest, and up to date way of bringing an author (and rolling dog!) into your classroom! So be sure to tell your teachers you want to see me, the rolling dog, on the overhead screen or Smartboard in your classroom. It will be so much fun to meet new kids across the country and share my message of hope and inspiration!

Click here to read what Karen Keys, District Media Specialist for school in Canada, had to say about our pilot Skype session with her students.

So be sure and stay tuned to my blog for our big launch or sign up for my updates on our website! Arf-a-roo! Can't wait to meet all of you soon!!

Time to Reflect

Ma took me for a lovely walk today along the long grassy path next to the old lodge; you know the long winding sandy one running between that prickly edge and the highway. For some strange reason today…. there where no cars or trucks racing by, in fact it was so quiet I could hear the crickets clicking away…..rather peaceful really. I just wanted to play ball but Ma said as it was such a lovely and quiet place today lets rest for a while and enjoy the peace whilst it last. I could see Ma wanted to rest, she’s got a lot on her mind at the moment with her new book and all, so I decided to chase the butterflies, giving her a chance to think, think about her next chapter…..which road will she take? Who knows, but I do know it will be right one. Mums a fighter and always has been, I am blessed to be her loved one. Ma always said if you can’t see what you’re looking for then dig down deeper and you will. Before you say or do it, I don’t mean dig down in the garden, like you do when your hiding the bone, I mean dig down into your heart and let your feelings guide you……by the way when we get home mums cooking me a really special dinner tonight so I guess by the time you are reading this I will be fast a sleep by the fire place, on my cuddly white rug.

Why Dogs "Rule"

Only Joking! but hey why do people set "Rules" is it for them, for us or who? putting it simply its for the benefit of your Ma, Pa's and YOU! Rules create a sense of authority and control but do we have a choice my furry friends of those rules, NO! I must admit it does create a sense of order and respect we get our meals on time, well most of the time. We get our regular walks around the park with the odd ball now and then to play with, but hey some silly rules need to change and if we "Bark" loud enough we can influence that change, sometimes. Like the rule "be quiet at night time" think not! when its dark and a stranger opens the door....should we remain quiet? No! it could easily be an intruder breaking one of those serious rules.....you know the ones that we should all respect no matter what. However, if you kept quiet and by that I mean not a single "Bark" then Ma and Pa would shout, SHOUT very loud at us for keeping! to their rules?... So the bottom line folks is keep to the rules, respect the rules, live by the rules but just now and again "Bark" as a rule.

I'm Still Your Dog poem

This is so fitting for animals with disabilities or elderly animals. They all deserve a chance and our love.

I'm Still Your Dog

Because I'm "just a dog" you see, I don't sigh and say, "why me?" I just face it- go on livin' and play the hand that I've been given.

I need you more now, that is true, for there are things I just can't do. The ball you throw I can't catch- I can't even lift my leg to scratch.

It's embarrassing a little- that I may need your help to piddle. But if our roles they were reverse, I'd be proud to be your nurse.

But hey, I love you more than ever. Me, give up? Well yeah, like never. I don't regret what cannot be- with you my friend, I'll just me me!

I'm still me within my soul where it counts, I still am whole. My back is bent and I'm quite lame, but in my heart I'm still the same.

Bow Wow TIP your going to like this.

We all like travelling, well I do for sure…. my favourite way is by air in one of those big silver flying machines, to my mum and dad that’s an airplane….I could offer up all the usual airline ad libs, like be sure to step on a plane with your left paw first in order to ensure a safe arrival back on terra firma or I could get technical and say that if you want to protect yourself from the stale or stuck energies and germs circulating around the cabin, then ask your mum and dad to carry a small baggie with a couple of essential cotton balls inside, you know the furry things, doused with a few drops of lavender oil. Lavender essential oil is an all natural anti-biotic, anti-fungal and anti-viral that also promotes a peaceful state of mind while building your immune system.

So, the next time you're going wings up just make sure your travelling companion is carrying a cotton ball with six drops of lavender essential oil on it. Sniff occasionally throughout the flight and keep it nearby until you're wheels down. This wonderfully effective immune enhancer won't even hog the armrest! What could be better than that? oh right, stepping off the plane right paw first!

Juicy, Tasty and Bubbly GUM

Thanks for dropping by today it’s a lovely day the sun is shining, the grass is ever so green glistening with the morning dew. Children happily playing with their parents in the park, enjoying the swings, roundabouts and slides whilst eating a stick of gum, unbeknown to them the gum that is very tasty could in fact be very deadly to me, your golden retriever Molly or even cost Snowball all his nine lives.

Some local vets say they are seeing more dogs that have ingested xylitol, which is found in fruits and sugar-free gum. "They can go into liver failure, and it's a pretty bad, life-threatening toxicity,” Dr. Monica Clare told the San Diego Union-Tribune. While it's harmless to humans, pets will die if they aren't treated quickly. Symptoms for you to watch out for of xylitol poisoning, includes vomiting, and a weak and wobbly appearance.

I hope all the children and adults alike take extra caution when they have finished enjoying their piece of gum and place it carefully into a waste bin, so to ensure the safety of all our four legged friends out there, one of which could be their own family pet.
